How I Started...
Who is 'Kiya'?
A dreamer? A writer? A poet? An idealist? An artist? Or just a wee bit of all of the above?
Born Ijeoma Patricia Utah, in Lagos, Nigeria, I grew up with my nose stuck in books and the dream that I could either become the world's greatest lawyer, or the greatest writer in history.
Many years later, this gal finds herself at least achieving one of those goals. She has written and published some stories and poems, and still finds time to churn out a few things when inspired.
(p.s: the pseudonym 'Kiya' was inspired by an Egyptian queen. It was simple yet powerful, and a name that's stuck with me for over fifteen years).
As for my foray into Graphic Design, that sort of fell into my lap with my admiration of digital art works. Curiosity got the best of me and the next thing I knew, I was pouring over Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Dreamweaver, and CorelDRAW (or Paint Shop Pro) and soaking up information like a sponge.
If I couldn't work with brushes and paint in hand, then by golly, I could do the same with my computer screen and a mouse pad. Hence, the birth of Designs by Kiya.
There is no limit to where your imagination can take you, and that is what I hope to achieve with my artwork. I dabble in a little bit of everything; from photo editing to book covers; flyers to business cards and more.
So, if you're looking for just that little extra color and fun in the daily mundane, let my passion be an inspiration to you.
Welcome to my world!
